Job Description

Position Summary Founded in 1959 by two visionary women, Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson, Childhelp has blossomed into a global movement dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect. Today, Childhelp stands as the nation’s largest nonprofit devoted to rescuing abused and neglected children through innovative intervention, prevention, and treatment programs impacting the lives of over 13 million children. The Social Media Manager will develop and implement strategic, mission-driven social media campaigns that amplify Childhelp's voice, engage diverse audiences, and increase awareness around child abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. This role will manage all social media platforms, drive content creation, and measure impact to support fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement. This position does not have direct reports. Essential Functions Content strategy and creation Develop and execute a comprehensive content calendar for all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn Create compelling copy, graphics, videos, and other media aligned with Childhelp's brand and values Collaborate with internal teams (programs, philanthropy) to spotlight stories and impact Capture content at events Community engagement Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and tags with sensitivity and timeliness Build relationships with followers, influencers, and partners to foster a supportive online community Attend organizational events to capture content Campaign development Lead social media campaigns for awareness months (e.g., National Child Abuse Prevention Month), fundraising pushes, and events Partner with PR and marketing to ensure message consistency across channels Brand management Uphold Childhelp's tone, voice, and visual guidelines across all channels Ensure sensitive and trauma-informed language in messaging, especially when discussing abuse, survivor stories, or hotline content Analytics and reporting Track performance metrics and provide regular reports with insights on post and campaign performance and engagement Requirements Education & Experience, Knowledge/Understanding Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field or job-related experience 3+ years of professional social media experience Proficient in social media management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Meta Business Suite) Strong writing, editing and visual storytelling skills Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic video editing tools Deep understanding of child advocacy, trauma-informed language, or willingness to learn Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Skills Skills listed in a job description detail the specific abilities, proficiencies, and expertise needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
