Bristol Myers Squibb is looking for an experienced transactional attorney who can succeed within our fast-paced, adaptive, and focused culture.

Position Overview :

This position will be primarily responsible for providing legal advice, guidance, and support for Corporate Development (mergers and acquisitions), Business Development (licensing and collaborations), and Alliance Management.

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Corporate and Business Development.

Responsibilities :

  1. Lead drafting, negotiations, structuring, and counseling on transactions (mergers and acquisitions, strategic equity investments, divestitures, licenses, collaborations, and partnerships).
  2. Identify and resolve critical legal and business issues arising from transactions.
  3. Oversee and manage legal due diligence processes.
  4. Partner with internal clients to ensure strategic alignment and escalate issues as needed.
  5. Manage relationships and counsel clients on transaction and strategic issues.
  6. Contribute to developing a high-performance legal team and foster collaboration.
  7. Manage antitrust approvals and negotiations with authorities as appropriate.
  8. Adopt a service-oriented approach to advising clients and demonstrate commitment to BMS values.

Qualifications / Competencies :

  1. Law degree and qualification to practice law in New Jersey or ability to obtain a license.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, especially drafting and negotiating complex transactions in the bio/pharmaceutical industry.
  3. Understanding of the bio-pharmaceutical/life sciences industry.
  4. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  5. High integrity, risk assessment, strategic thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and develop team members.
  7. Ability to work independently and efficiently against broad objectives.

Compensation in California, Massachusetts, and Washington ranges from $243,470-$295,000, plus incentives. Benefits vary by location and include health, wellness, financial, work-life, and other perks. For more details, visit our careers site.
