Position Summary The Executive Director of Knowledge Science Research (KSR) leads a multidisciplinary team within Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) to ensure data-driven insights are accessible, actionable, and impactful. KSR covers data operations, governance, research engineering, computational genomics, and data sciences applied to molecular data. The role emphasizes leveraging AI and large language models (LLMs) to support decision-making in research. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision, operational excellence, financial prudence, and an entrepreneurial spirit, collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision Develop and implement strategies to enhance accessibility and utility of molecular data. Align team goals and technology investments with organizational priorities. Team Oversight & Development Lead and develop a team of approximately 50 FTEs, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Implement career development and succession planning. Data Management & Operational Excellence Oversee data workflows, cost management, data curation, and metadata practices. Promote user-friendly tools and self-service capabilities. Innovation & Advanced Analytics Champion AI/ML applications, including LLMs and agentic frameworks. Integrate multi-omics and clinical data to advance research and biomarker discovery. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a liaison between IPS, BI&T, and external partners. Ensure strategic alignment and timely delivery of data solutions. Culture of Inclusion & Continuous Improvement Foster an inclusive environment encouraging diverse perspectives. Apply best practices in project management, mentoring, and feedback. Qualifications & Experience Education & Experience Ph.D. or equivalent in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, or related field, with ≥12 years in pharmaceutical research, especially drug discovery. Leadership experience managing diverse, cross-functional teams in pharma, biotech, or R&D. Technical & Scientific Expertise Expertise in data governance, analytics, and high-throughput molecular data pipelines. Experience with AI/ML, especially LLMs and agentic frameworks in life sciences. Leadership & Management Skills Ability to mentor senior leaders and foster inclusive teams. Strong communication skills for conveying complex scientific concepts. Collaboration & Influencing Proven success in building internal and external partnerships. Exceptional stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
